NEWS Big names sign up for magazine


T e biggest and best year in Advanced Carp Fishing’s (ACF) history is on the cards as three top names join the magazine’s line-up. Adam Penning, Terry Hearn and Dave Lane add to an already impressive collection of carpers, which includes Jim Shelley, Jon McAllister and Darrell Peck, among others. Marc Coulson, carp group editor at David Hall Publishing, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Adam to the team. He’s an angler, and writer, who I have the utmost respect for and I also consider him a very good friend. To have him on board is almost a dream come true. “Adam joins as consulting editor (a kind of ‘editor at large’ if you like) and will add his wealth of skills and experience as a big-carp catcher, as well as an exceptional talent as a writer.

Taska backs two carp contests


Carp terminal-tackle expert Taska has lent its support to two of the biggest carp fi shing competitions in the UK calendar. T e fi rm will be getting behind the British Carp Angling Championship and the

Open Season grows dealer network


Oxfordshire fi rearm distributor Open Season is inviting retailers across Britain to apply to join its professional dealer network. As Britain’s sole distributor of German brands Blaser and Mauser, Open Season has already appointed 27 retailers but is looking for a total of 40 to sell the premium ranges of rifl es and shotguns. Blaser’s straight-pull R93 bolt-action took the global fi rearm industry by storm when it was fi rst launched. Since then it has enjoyed worldwide sales of 250,000. Meanwhile, Mauser has been a fi rm favourite


among rifl e enthusiasts since 1871. Rupert Haynes, Open Season’s managing director, said he was looking for highly committed stockists. “We really want to ramp up customer service and ensure that product knowledge is second to none. We will be off ering a lot of support to dealers through training directly from Blaser and Mauser and ourselves, as well as information packs,” he announced. “We want to eliminate any margin of error. Blaser and Mauser are aspirational brands and we are devoted to providing dealers with fi rst-rate support who can then pass that on to end users.”
