It’s just over nine months since the UK’s leading shooting wholesaler, John Rothery Wholesale, moved into its new 32,000 sq ft home. So how is it going?

striking and imposing structure for a relatively new building, with a sharp-looking exterior and impressive foyer. T e walls in the reception are


a clear indication of the historical importance of the company and the pleasure it takes in housing one of the greatest brands that the industry has produced – Parker Hale, which it purchased in 2000. A giant 6ft frame takes pride of place and accommodates a history of Parker Hale accessories.

pictures of the Hale family sit comfortably alongside others showing the origins of John Rothery Wholesale – a basic- looking retail shop in Southsea, barely 11 miles from the latest facility. T e historical theme continues


in the airy boardroom on the fi rst fl oor, where boss Bob Rothery is keen to continue the collection of shooting paraphernalia that his late father and Shena Lay started. Housed in beautiful wooden


cabinets, the assortment of books and artefacts is watched over by a portrait of John Rothery himself, splendidly attired as a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers. Looking down he would be very proud of the company’s progress.
