high performance, “green” buildings. Kimpton’s EarthCare program ensures that all meetings are earth-friendly, and it’s the first hotel company to roll out mandatory eco-friendly practices nation- wide. The Hotel Monaco Philadelphia also is Kimpton’s twelfth adaptive reuse development project, where a rundown office building is converted into a new, four-star boutique hotel.

Stratus Rooftop Bar & Lounge, the hotel’s rooftop lounge located on its 11th floor, features a dynamic interior space that includes a cast-in-place concrete bar and oversized glass garage doors that open to an expansive, outdoor terrace featuring two pavilions. Here, guests can dine on seasonal cuisine and enjoy handcrafted cocktails, while taking in picturesque views of the city.

Any networking event or cocktail recep- tion will be taken to new heights in this “elevated oasis,” where guests will gaze upon Independence National Park, the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. With the open sky surrounding the group, the stars above make for a daz- zling backdrop.

Red Owl Tavern is the hotel’s signature restaurant, which accommodates 125 guests and is “chef-driven.” Each Kimpton has an adjacent restaurant that is locally popular and also top-rated. Red Owl Tavern’s Executive Chef, Guillermo Tellez, earned the first-ever James Beard Foundation’s Felipe Rojas-Lombardi Award for Achievement among hispanic chefs.

“The ‘chef-driven’ theory is that Kimpton allows their Executive Chefs to be heavi- ly involved in the creation of the menus with their own inspirations,”

Dmuchowski. “Our Executive Chefs spend a great deal of their time preparing the food items on their line.”

Red Owl Tavern offers seasonal, local ingredients, forging a connection with surrounding Pennsylvania farmlands. By day,

it serves as an upscale deli and

butcher shop featuring hand-crafted sandwiches and burgers. At night, it’s a place to enjoy grilled, roast-house spe- cialties. With steaks from the butcher shop, fresh fish, snacks, craft cocktails and draft beer, every appetite will be satiated.
