The choices you make now, of what to study in the future, influence what courses, jobs and career you go on to do in the future.


It can feel daunting to make such a big decision, but this is your opportunity to start shaping your own future and decide where you want your life to go.


There is lots of advice available to help inform your option choices:


l Friends and family, parent(s)/ carer(s), brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents – are all likely to have useful advice


l Your form tutor or favourite teacher at school


l Your school careers service


l A careers adviser at your local connexions shop in either East Ham or Stratford.

Remember that the final choice is yours, as it is you who will be spending the time and effort to study these subjects. You are more likely to succeed in a subjects that you are interested in.

Hairdresser


n Trainee hairdressers usually start on the National Minimum Wage which varies depending on age.


n Fully trained hairdressers can earn up to £20,000 a year.


n At the top of the profession, hairdressers can earn £30,000 or more, depending on employer and/or location.
