Tim Campbell, the winner of the first TV series The Apprentice, grew up in Stratford and went to St. Bonaventure’s school, where he achieved 3 A- Levels and 11 GCSEs. He has gone on to set up the Bright Ideas Trust, aiming to give young entrepreneurs a chance to start up in business with equity funding and advice from business angels.

l Anyone aged 16 and above can become an apprentice – whether you are just leaving school, have been working for years or are seeking to start a new career.


l As an apprentice, you will earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills.


l You will also receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.


l Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of Apprenticeship and what industry you are working in.


l Organisations of all sizes offer apprenticeships – from large multi-nationals to small and medium sized enterprises.


l The government is planning to offer 50,000 more apprenticeship places.


l You might also be able to do a pre-apprenticeship programme if you are not yet ready for a full apprenticeship.
