NACH EINEM WETTBEWERBLICHEN Vergabeverfahren liefert Bally Technologies der Atlantic Lottery Corporation 1576 Videolotterie-Terminals (VLTs). Vannes driving licence fight
Four casino groups are currently battling to win the coveted Vannes casino licence
The battle is now very much on for a casino licence in the French town of Vannes, located in Brittany in north-west France. The local town council has selected four applicants for the project who must now outline their proposals in greater detail and present their final proposals by the end of August. Lucien Barrière, Joa Groupe, Tranchant and SBEC (Société Bretonne d'Exploitation de Casinos) will all lock horns to see who will be chosen to fulfil the licence.
With 33 domestic casinos, Barrière is the biggest hitter out of the four although Joa operates 20 casinos in France, Tranchant owns 17 and SBEC, operates 16 gaming floors through its various partners. The local council will analyse the blueprints presented by each bidder in September with a final decision scheduled for December 14. The casino which must include a restaurant and a theatre will employ between 70 and 100 people.
Assistant to the mayor of Vannes, Georges André, said that the local commune was delighted with the four applicants it had selected for the tender process.
“We want a casino of great standing housed in a beautiful building,” he said. “If everything goes well the casino of Vannes should open its doors by the end of 2014 or the beginning of 2015. We are confident the licence will receive the green light from the Ministry of the

Bally lands 27 per cent of Atlantic Lottery VLT quota
Bally Technologies will provide 1,576 video lottery terminals (VLTs) to the Atlantic Lottery Corporation following a competitive procurement process.
The seven-year contract for VLTs represents approximately 27 per cent of video lottery terminals being replaced by Atlantic Lottery, which operates lottery games in four Canadian provinces including New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador,
Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
“We are extremely honoured to be selected as a key supplier of VLTs in Atlantic Lottery's effort to replace its aging fleet,” said Bally Technologies' Vice President and Managing Director of Canada, Robert Parente. “This agreement affirms Bally's commitment and focus to provide innovative technology for the Canadian gaming market.”

In terms of where the new casino licence will be located, Mr. André said it could be in the grounds of Parc du Golfe, at the l'hôtel Mercure, in the old harbour station or in a converted fitness centre. The gaming floor in each of these proposed venues must measure up to 3,000 m. sq. The property must also have car parking space for 150 cars.
Record-breaking
€3bn Novomatic The Novomatic Group confirmed that it had a record breaking year last year, hitting the €3bn mark in revenue for the first time in its history. The total revenues of the group, comprising Novomatic as well as the two Swiss affiliates ACE Casino Holding AG and Gryphon Invest AG, hit the landmark of €3.193bn compared to €2.816bn in 2010. As well as manufacturing gaming machines, Novomatic operates over 200,000 slots in 1,200 group operations located in countries including Switzerland, Germany, Czech and Chile. The slot manufacturing side of the business reported revenues of €1.387bn, up a huge 17.2 per cent on 2010’s figure of 1.184bn. EBITDA increased by 9.2 per cent to €491m. In 2011 the group employed an annual average of 11,818 staff, which is a rise of 12 per cent. Novomatic CEO Franz Wohlfahrt said: “We owe these excellent results to our successful strategy of anticyclical investments in economically challenging times, to accurate optimising measures as well as to the exceptional commitment of our employees.”
