Politician Armando Corona Rivera, of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional party pinpointed the illegal total to be in the region of 70,000 machines in Mexico City and Mexico Valley alone. He said that the slots earned between $4,000 and $10,000 a month with operators exploiting a grey area between the machines operated in casinos and those in betting centers, more accurately called random games and skill games, which have not be legally categorised. He wants to include slots as games of skill in a change to article 2 of the Federal ‘Games of Chance’ Law.
