G Investments has acquired the Colorado Grande Casino with plans to revitalise the location


G Investments has bought the Colorado Grande Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado, from Nevada Gold and Casinos for $3.125m. The company has paid $800,000 in cash with the balance being paid in the form of a promissory note with interest and significant principal amortization over a five-year period. The proceeds will be used to pay down Nevada Gold’s debt.


Robert Sturges, CEO of Nevada Gold, said: “As we increase the scale of gaming properties in our portfolio, it no longer made sense for us to operate a small, single property in the challenging Cripple Creek market. On behalf of Nevada Gold, I would like thank all of our Colorado team members for their loyalty and hard work over the years and would also like to wish the buyer well with the property. Since the buyer is an affiliate of a neighbouring property, they will be able to create synergies and efficiencies, not available to Nevada Gold.”


Rank enters Cozy

Once the purchase is complete, G Investments and Johnny Nolon’s Casino will divide up the top management positions although the Colorado Grande’s 65 employees and Johnny Nolon’s 50 employees will all retain their jobs.


G Investments is fronted by David Minter, who is also managing partner of Minter Holdings, owner of Johnny Nolon’s, and serves as the casino’s general manager. He also held down the position of general manager of the Colorado Grande from 1993 to ’97. Mr. Minter said he has wanted to buy the Colorado Grande since working there saying it is one of the favourites that he has operated.


Unibet Group seeks to acquire Nordic Betting


Unibet Group has signed an agreement to acquire the business and certain operating assets from Nordic Betting, one of the leading participants in the online gaming market in Northern Europe, trading as Bet24. Nordic Betting operates a wide range of sports and gaming products through its web sites www.bet24.dk and www.bet24.com.


The acquisition price for the business and acquired assets is €13.5m, payable in cash. The transaction, which is Unibet’s third targeted at regulated markets in recent months strengthens Unibet’s market position in the recently regulated Danish market and provides additional scale to support further investment to grow


market share and supports Unibet’s strong organic growth in other territories.


Nordic Betting had a gross winning revenue (on consistent basis with Unibet accounting policies) of approximately €10.5m for its latest financial year ended 31 December 2011. Unibet intends to migrate customers and rebrand the business from Bet24 to Unibet, as well as integrating the business operations, in due course. For the present the business will continue to trade normally as Bet24. As part of the transaction, Unibet will transfer around 45 employees of Nordic Betting into its own Maltese operations, in accordance with Maltese law and regulations applicable to the transfer of businesses.
