The “Friends of the Children of EMAÚS” is a non-profit making Association that works tirelessly to improve the lives of the children living under the care of EMAÚS.
EMAÚS ensures that the Social Workers who work with the children in the afternoons are qualified in teaching skills. The education of the children is of the utmost importance as they will have no parental support if they want to go to University or look for a job.
The children in the Altea home had worked hard at school, and their teachers were very pleased with their results. The teachers and social workers wanted to reward the children for their good work by sending them on the end of term school trip. This would have cost over 1,000€, the sort of money EMAÚS just does not have. The children’s teachers wanted so much for the children to be rewarded for their good work that they started a collection amongst themselves to send the children on the trips. Friends of the Children of EMAÚS found out about the dilemma and paid for the trips.
That happened some years ago now but our Association continues to pay for the end of term trips for the children. At Easter every child received a chocolate Easter Bunny from us and 30€ to spend on new clothes and shoes. The total cost being more than 3,000€. We could not pay out such large amounts of money without the kind collaboration of you wonderful people on the Costa Blanca. Last year we spent 35,000€ on the children of EMAÚS.
