Coro Pilar At Los Alcazares.
On Sunday 27th May 2012, in contrast to their more formal church concerts, Coro Pilar will be presenting a light-hearted musical evening at the Las Claras Community Centre, Los Narejos, Los Alcazares. The Choir’s diversity will be on show with hits from musicals and other popular songs and will provide a lively and entertaining evening. Coral Clásica Javiense
At the Annual General meeting of the choir the resignation of the President Llona Martin was accepted with regret. Llona was a founder member of the choir who was treasurer and secretary during the fi rst fi ve years and then President for the last four years. Our thanks go to her for her work and devotion to the choir. She will be much missed. June Anderson was elected as the new President. She is an experienced choral singer and has been a member of the CCJ for some years. Other members of the committee are:- Rotraud Mueller-Treasurer Rotraut Lippke-Secretary
Karin Klein-Schmidt- Music advisor and graphics The choir now has a close association with the Orchestra of the Marina Alta (OMA) Whose musical director, Francesc Estevez, is also musical director of Coral Clásica Javiense.

Saturday, 2nd June - Branch Open Day and a Celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to be held at the El Cid. A combined event which will start at around 11.30am. There will be something for all the family, including stalls, games, live music, food, drinks and much, much more. Saturday, 9th June - By popular demand a “D-Day Do”. A dinner and dance at the El Cid commencing at 7.30pm. Last year, this superb event was talked about long afterwards, so we intend to do the same all over again, but even better! Period costume is again encouraged and this year the menu refl ects the period! James Hurst will be back again providing music of the era. Friday, 12th October - El Cid Restaurant Auction Day in aid of The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We have a wonderful opportunity to raise money for our 2012/13 Appeal fund, but to make it a success, we are entirely dependent upon the active help of all our members and friends. This is a very large commitment as we need in the region of 250 lots suitable for sale! Please do everything you can to fi nd and donate saleable items for us. We need your help. Also, we are in need of temporary storage space for the lots, their cleaning and sale preparation. Can you help? Do you know of somewhere that may be suitable? Should you have items to donate or information on storage space, please get in touch with Ron Clements on 96 558 3373 or Linda Eskriett on 96 558 4422. Poppy Social Club - provisional dates for our ‘travelling lunches’ are Tuesday, 9th April; Tuesday, 9th June; Monday, 9th July and Tuesday, 14th August. Details of confi rmed events, dates and venues will be sent to members.

Charity Shops are crying out for old bags!
Please re-cycle your plastic bags to a Charity Shop. Now that these bags are being charged-for at supermarkets and shoppers are using their own bags, the Charity Shops are having a hard time fi nding enough bags into which to put your treasures. I have not checked with EVERY Charity Shop - but from what I hear ALL Charity Shops would WELCOME your old bags. (preferably clean!) I write this for the benefi t of all. Lesley Clark.
