A spanner in the works. Unfortunately we rarely have the luxury of a blank canvas when it comes to sprucing up a room. More often than not we are governed by existing furniture, architectural room features, natural lighting, and floor colour. However, these don’t have to be the spanner in your creative works, as long as they are taken into careful consideration in any new scheme.
As simple as... Achieving a refreshing new look for a room can be as simple as rearranging your current furniture, a change is as good as a rest after all. However, adding new soft furnishings and simple finishing touches, can transform a room creating an individual space imprinted with your own personality and style.
In recent times, new fabrics and innovative ideas on how to use them, have revolutionised the concept of soft furnishings and now this simple term encompasses a whole range of items that can be used to complete and pull an entire scheme together.
The essential ingredient Fabrics have longed formed an essential ingredient in any interior scheme. They are an important source of colour, texture and pattern and therefore play a major role in influencing the style and mood of a room. There is currently such a diverse range of fabrics, you are bound to find something to suit your needs, taste, and perhaps most importantly, your budget. Traditional natural fibres are now complemented by a range of less expensive man made fibres, all available in a seemingly endless range of colours, patterns and texture. And whilst this provides tremendous scope for creativity, it can make the task of deciding which is the perfect “one” quite daunting!
Where to start? When you go about choosing your soft furnishings, there needs to be some form of starting point to work from.
