Who is in control of your life?….
I ask the question because it seems to be the basis for a lot of people breaking up their relationships, marriages, and friendships. Actually it doesn’t make a lot of sense!
If we have two eyes, realise that neither of
them see things the same way, and no one’s eyes are the same, so what are the chances of us seeing things in life like anyone else? We can AGREE on things and feel similar about what is going on around us, or in the world, but no one sees things exactly the same. It’s a very personal thing how we view things in life.
Once we are beyond the age where we are under control, as children, we are in the situation where we make our own mind up about things, and now watch out for confl ict!
Freedom of personal choice is what life should be about, provided the choices are not illegal, immoral, or designed to do harm, then they are just DIFFERENT, and what is wrong with that? We can all have different opinions on everything, but try to be tolerant. Why not accept that everyone has their own opinion on things and just accept that?
How many times do you blame someone else for making you angry, or making you feel a particular way?…. YOU choose how to feel. Don’t give up that responsibility to anyone, it belongs to YOU to decide how you feel about everything. If you know people who try to control you it may be time to talk…. or to make it clear, with a smile, that you appreciate their input, but you will deal with the situation YOUR way. It works, though it may take some practice at fi rst!
Until the next time….. take care! Violet King…. Personal Confi dential Counsellor
