A GREAT MIND AND THE THOUGHTS OF ALBERT EINSTEIN Albert Einstein once said: “It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not really need a college. He can learn them from books. The value of an education in a liberal arts college is not learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.”


Was Einstein an early advocate of competency based training? Can this be applied to the current expansion in the wind energy industry?


EINSTEIN AND THE WIND ENERGY INDUSTRY – A TENUOUS LINK? There may be a tenuous link but the more you examine the statement the more it makes sense. Competency Based Training (CBT) is all about what a person can do in the workplace, usually after following a specific training programme. There are many technical aspects in the wind energy industry that are specialist and require high levels of training and qualification.


However, from Einstein we learn that we need to train the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks. So what is that? The answer is many-fold.
