ENGINEERING A SUCCESSFUL POWER SYSTEM In the context of the large-scale production of electricity, the wind farm concept is relatively new although the principals have been known as long as it has been understood that turning a magnet in a coil produced a back EMF (Electro Motive Force) that is given the name electricity. The use of wind energy to produce electricity was preceded for centuries by windmills that used such a source to grind wheat into flour or lift water.


TODAY’S ENERGY INDUSTRY – THE OVERALL CONCEPT


The energy industry today uses as its source of fuel the inherent energy captured over eons within compounds such as nuclear fuel, fossil fuel - coal and oil & gas. Then there is tidal water, wave, solar, bio, hydro thermal and, of course, wind energy, with the objective being to convert this inherent energy into a useable source of fuel that in turn, can be converted into useable power in the form of electricity. That is the overall concept.
