The Belfast Lough Pilotage Services Ltd company offer training and consultation on the safe transfer of personnel at sea.


As professional marine pilots, managing shipping and marine movements in and around the Belfast area, the company are unique in utilising the services of their highly qualified staff to teach and instruct personnel going into the wind farm industry.


EXPERIENCE With experience of accessing thousands of vessels at sea over many decades BLPS are pleased and keen to apply their skills and impart their knowledge to all those wishing to access wind turbines safely from the sea.


APPROVED TRAINERS BLPS are approved trainers for British Petroleum Technical superintendents who through the nature of their work are obliged to occasionally board vessels at sea.


They have been involved with safety training in this field for over five years and are now actively looking into expanding their services to the wind energy industry. Their members are all fully qualified master


mariners from all aspects of the marine shipping industry who have used their experience/knowledge to run classroom and practical seminars for access from vessels and platforms in the oil and gas industry.

EXPERIENCE With a proven track record of delivering successful projects to the construction industry, they are keen to offer their bespoke services and transfer their knowledge to the wind energy and renewables sector.


WIND ENERGY INDUSTRY They have recently completed 2 off- shore wind farm projects that involved all mechanical and electrical works associated with the construction of the support buildings for off-shore wind farms at Barrow-in-Furness.


These support buildings included workshop facilities, offices and changing areas.


The projects were carried out for Vattenfall at Ormonde offshore wind farm and at Dong Wind Farm for Dong Energy. With manufacturing facilities close to Belfast harbour, they already have the appropriate competencies in place to provide services to the renewable energy sector. Outstanding reputation within various sectors gives them the capability to diversify their offerings to other sectors.
