PUBLISHER BRIAN WARREN Message from the Publisher

Man… what a summer! And where did it go?

Seems I did a lot of different things

but not enough of anything. Seems that I didn’t get my fill of biking, fishing and golfing. I can only hope that we have a few decent fall days left. Well, folks, we managed to put out

three issues of Bounder this year. It’s getting easier to find story ideas, thanks to the dedicated editorial board and writers who make the magazine rock. We’re already throwing around new

ideas for 2012, so be looking for our first issue of the year around the end of March (our WHEELS Edition). We have some great plans for 2012.

We hope to have a Man Cave on Wheels that will tour to a lot of the Ottawa and Valley events this spring and summer. We also hope to add new editorial columns beginning with the spring edition. There are so many interesting things to write about, so when we have our fall wrap-up dinner with the board, writers and staff, I expect that the ideas will be flying around the room. Your input is valuable to us at Bounder so please continue to write and email us your ideas. Being a free magazine, we rely on our loyal advertisers

to continue to support the mag. If you have considered advertising in Bounder, give us a call to discuss. As we are all too aware, road

construction is a necessary evil. We read about businesses on Bank St. that have suffered due to torn up roads and little traffic through the doors. Recently Carling Avenue has been the target of the big shovels, so I have seen first-hand what construction can do to traffic. I’m talking about Jack at Monkey Joe’s,

who has an outdoor patio that gives you a view of dumptrucks and shovels and a face full of dirt when the wind blows. Dave Woolley, Art Stevens, Dan Champagne and I religiously meet at Monkey Joe’s for a couple of pitchers and for what we regard as the best damn wings in Ottawa (note: order them baked). So we have seen what happens when your street is torn up. If you have a favourite place to eat,

drink, gather or shop, please deal with the inconvenience and support them. There are too few independent businesses left that need your support through ripped up roads and detours. Gotta run...deadline for shipping to

Dollco is tomorrow and Francie, my editor, is pulling her hair out dealing with my bad typing. (Ed. note: I’m used to it.) Have a great fall and winter, and watch for the Wheels edition in the spring.

Special thanks to our Editorial Advisory Board. Their input was invaluable.
