I know these babies have to be
restored. I wondered how long it takes. Arnold was quick to reply that
it really depends on the person and the urgency. Ed Galea took 24 years to complete his, he added with a wry smile – so I shouldn’t worry about it. The club has a membership
fee of $25 (renewed annually) and welcomes all Model A fans, whether you own one or not. The important thing is that you share the passion. The group ranges in age from
about 40 to 91 with an average of about 70. The membership composi- tion is 50/50 between the guys and the ladies. It presently has 150 mem- bers and 75 cars. Monthly meetings start from September to April and the club tours extensively from May to October. They receive a barrage of invita-
tions to attend special events or venues such as the Aviation Museum Open House, Cumberland Heritage Museum, Billings Estate and Rideau

Hall. Fund-raising events see the members chauffeuring MPPs and Mayors. They are constantly met with smiles and awe by passersby. There is no sweeter sound, according to Arnold, than the “AOOGA” horn sound from a Model A. “Arnold,” I said, “a lot of us who belong to a car club sometimes find it
