from the Ottawa Valley “inbred”. We had a fairly raunchy crowd that day. Earl walked into the room carrying a garbage can lid as protection against any projectiles. That broke the crowd up and, although boisterous, they were not unruly and we all had a lot of laughs that day. We also had the opportunity of
hosting the Stanley Cup at the club when local boy Sean O’Donnell, who was playing with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, took his turn at the Hotseat. Sean had the cup for the day and we had a lot of people get their picture with it for a minimal fee − with all proceeds going to the Make a Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario. Hundreds of people took advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime chance. Looking ahead to this year, my
first Hotseat will be Nov. 4 with the head of the Ottawa Senators player development, Randy Lee. We have also booked some current and former players in the weeks to follow. The Kanata Sports Club’s 25th
Anniversary is in 2012 and there many plans in the making. I will

endeavor to keep you informed of all the events and parties. Maybe you can be part of raising the next $1.7 million for amateur sports. Well, as you can see, the Kanata
Sports Club has a great history with many interesting stories and plenty of the wonderful people that make them. If you would like to be a member
of the club, you can fill out a membership form and pay $25 at the club. As a member, you will be welcome to drop in anytime for a cold one, play a game of darts or just watch your favorite sporting events on one of their many big screen televisions. And don’t forget to be at the
Hotseat every Friday starting in November for a great meal, good friends and really interesting guests. I became a part of the Kanata
Sports Club way back when. And who knows? This could
become your “home away from home” as well.
