Tavern and share a great meal and entertainment, but most importantly, friendship. When I walked in with Brian
I swear I became giddy with glee. This really was a classic tavern in the true sense of the word. The wood on the walls and floors are original, dating back to 1935, and are truly something to be admired. Tables and chairs are wood and the first thing I saw: yes gents – quarts!!! Life was just getting better and better. Then we went to the menu. Bill and Sam work the kitchen, and man they do a great job. We had soup which was better than any I have had in a long, long time. The menu is traditional tavern fare – hearty and tasty – smoked meat sandwiches, sausages on a bun, wings, cabbage rolls, spring rolls (made by Mom herself) burgers and so on. Brian had the smoked meat and I tackled the sausage platter – couldn’t complain if I wanted to. The service was great, and I hate to sound cliché, but I really felt at home. You know how you can walk into a bar and the regulars glare at you as if you are intruding – well not here – everyone is welcome and you feel it. The prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. There is the other option of having breakfast, again at a very reasonable price, should you be inclined to visit the Parkdale Market and grab a bite. They also offer vegetarian
options, and have HDTVs, Live Sports Coverage (NBA, NHL, UFC, NFL, etc.), live music, live Sens Game coverage, and free parking. This gives you a number of very good reasons to hike yourself down and drop in for a great meal, a cold beer, an atmosphere that will bring back memories of the times you may have spent in comfortable, friendly, taverns. It is worth the trip.
