It is a key event for all senior pro- fessionals with responsibility for their organisation's energy requirements. All the major energy suppliers and bro- kers in the UK will be under one roof, and visitors can attend a comprehen- sive seminar programme. The Energy Insight Conference will bring together leading experts and commentators in the fi elds of econom- ics, climate change, energy policy and security, the nuclear industry, demand management and carbon reduction – creating a forum for debate on critical issues such as pricing, risk and carbon reduction. Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, Charles Hendry, will deliver the keynote address on the future of the UK energy market. The minister has stated that deci- sions being made now on how much and what type of energy is needed will affect the UK for the next few decades, which is why he says it’s important to strike a balance between creating clean energy from renewable sources and nuclear, and using cur- rent energy sources in a green way. Energy Insight Conference is Lord Digby Jones, the author of the recently published book entitled Fixing Britain. The presentation from Lord Jones will discuss the need for British busi- nesses to start making the changes that will be required to move towards a low-carbon society. Afternoon sessions on both days will be hosted by the Major Energy Users’ Council (MEUC) and will cover top- ics including understanding effi ciency in relation to water, energy and gas, low carbon incentives and legislation, energy security, energy monitoring and management, managing energy risk, employing an energy broker, and highlighting who will benefi t from the government's‘Green Deal’.
