Some are large universities; some are two-year community colleges while others are technological or online schools without campuses. Many different degrees including undergraduate, graduate and professional programs are available. With over 5,000 universities and colleges the one thread ties all the schools together; is diversity. Diversity not only strengthens and enriches the educational experience but it strengthens communities and the workplace, promotes mutual respect and teamwork; challenges stereotyped preconceptions; encourages critical thinking and helps build communities that enhance America’ s economic competitiveness by building work settings that bring together graduates from diverse backgrounds with diverse employers. Working hand in hand, education is the greatest experience that has a formative effect on our mind.


Schools such as Webster University have made it a part of their mission to “E nsure high qua lity learning experiences that transform students for global citizenship and individual excellence.” Without the understanding of the basic principles of diversity, we have little understanding for those who are different from us. The Hispanic Network Magazine’s educational institutions on this year’ s list have emphasized the importance of diversity within their curriculum, alumni, student body, faculty and staff. Many of the large corporations and government agencies have hired graduates from these colleges for their distinguished discipline and diverse ingenuity.
