SUPPLIER DIVERSITY

United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Takes Note of Supplier Diversity in Proposed AT&T/T-Mobile Merger

he United States Hispanic Cham- ber of Commerce (USHCC) voiced its support of the proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger, with opportunities to increase supplier diversity for mi- nority-owned businesses and create economic development as the primary points of interest. AT&T’s exemplary commitment to the Hispanic community makes it pos- sible for the USHCC to support the acquisition of T-Mobile. This commit- ment is not limited to the supply chain, but is also evident in their governance which includes a Hispanic CEO and a Hispanic board member at a time when only 3% of Fortune 100 Directors are Hispanic.

T

AT&T is also one of only 17 com- panies across the country that is a member of the Billion Dollar Round- table, an accolade earned by achieving spending of at least $1 billion with mi- nority and woman-owned suppliers. In 2009, AT&T spent $9.2 billion with diverse suppliers which represented nearly 20% of their overall procure- ment spend. “AT&T’s
