GERMANY SHOWS REAL NEW POOL GROWTH

A new report on the current state of the German specialist market is being prepared for the aquanalae exhibiton. The two year review is expected to show a number of strong themes for the industry in Germany. A recovery in new pool completions with growth of 5% over two years ago – the first real growth in new pool builds in four years. A new record number of natural swimming pools or garden ponds which have rocketed in popularity especially in holiday areas such as Bavaria.

Even tighter standards on swimming pool water control where Germany already has the strictest system in Europe and possibly the world with almost zero tolerance of poor commercial pool systems where it is a legal requirment to monitor and control bacteria in pools.

Another two years of rapid expansion for saunas, wet rooms and steam rooms.

Tougher economic condititions have held back new municial pool projects throughout Germany in 2011 but there has been greater than expected investment in outdoor pools. One new development has been the launching of floating pools in many lakes and holiday resorts which offer safe swimming depths and conditions.
