Figures show more than 80 local authorities have made the switch with more to follow. It is being seen as a key factor in keeping larger commercial pools open and satisfy the demands for cost cutting. It is known that energy savings and water quality are two of the major headaches for local authority pool owners and managers. Rising energy prices have put even more pressure on pool owners to do something about energy efficiency.
Energy efficient solutions are readily available in the market whether it is on how to reduce energy consumption using existing equipment or by products such as dual speed filtration pumps, heat retention pool covers, LED lights or the simple installation of time clocks on relevant equipment. Energy efficiency has been highlighted as one of the key areas for improvement with the brief of commercial pools to become ‘greener’ as pools also deal with new more stringent budgets.
