Commercial pools are looking for better systems, more efficiency, more knowledgeable staff and as many ideas as they can to reduce costs


measuring, control and dosage systems, filters and water treatment products that not only significantly

The priorities are:

HEAT PUMPS STILL THE FOCUS OF ATTENTION Heat pumps remain high on the agenda for such savings.


The Gemini system from Heatstar is a response to fighting back against the sort of high and still rising fuel prices and the escalating focus and demand for sources of renewable energy.


The Gemini provides all the usual energy efficiencies associated with a heat pump dehumidification system with heat reclaim available to both air and pool water.


It incorporates a built-in fresh air source heat pump boiler, which extracts energy from the outside air and uses this to heat the pool room air and pool water directly. The combined Gemini hybrid


provides the end client with an easy and convenient solution to the desire to accommodate renewable energy technology, without the need or high associated costs of installing a ground source heat pump boiler or externally positioned air source heat pump boilers.


Certikin has also raised the bar with the new 29 range of Calorex pool heat pumps. Produced in Europe to ISO9001-2001 standards, the 629 and 829 models lead the industry in both performance and efficiency. The 29 range offers proven co- efficient of performance (COP) of up to 5:1. This means the heat pumps can provide up to five units of energy for the pool for every one unit paid-for while at the same time, drastically reducing carbon emissions. Typical of what can be achieved is The Academy leisure centre, in Harrogate, which took delivery of six Calorex Pro Pac 90 units as part of a energy- efficiency drive, and the venue is anticipating savings of about £55,000 per year on heating costs with carbon emission savings of 100 tonnes annually.
