Regulatory Seminars


The Regulatory Seminars revealed thoughtful, educational insights into the movement of legislation, including the impact of current and future regulatory changes in Europe, Asia and the US. The morning session ‘Safety Assessment for Cosmetics in Europe’ was lead by Dr Annelie Struessmann, Technical Director at CONSUBAT and experts from Beiersdorf, Henkel, EFfCI and IFRA. Topics included legislative background and current challenges, practical guidelines for the design, preparation and maintenance of Product Information Files and Cosmetic Product Safety Reports and key requirements for cosmetic ingredients and finished products. The afternoon session addressed ‘Chinese and Asian Cosmetics Regulations’. Dr Alain Khaiat, President of Seers Consulting and Mr Chen Shao Jun, Secretary General of CAFFCI were joined by

Formulation Workshops


The Formulation Workshops were challenging, lively, interactive, sometimes controversial and always highly stimulating. Delivered by renowned industry experts, offering a unique chance to tackle and debate the latest topics, issues, trends and challenges of the cosmetic industry. Professor Dr Johann Wiechers from JW Solutions hosted the second Workshop of the day; ‘From Active Ingredient to Active Formulation in 5 Simple Steps’. Delegates learnt how to select the best actives for optimum skin delivery, identify the size of the delivery gap from the required minimum effective concentration, select the most appropriate skin delivery system, design the right formulation to deliver the actives and perform a clinical trial to assess the product’s efficacy.
