Whats next in anti-ageing treatments?
Sinerga presented its latest ingredient: AZELOYL TETRAPETIDE-23, the first Tetrapeptide that blocks glycation and consequently the skin ageing. The skin ageing process is a natural phenomena of depolymerisation of the dermis matrix, involving slow deterioration of the tissue function and taking to turgidity of the skin, wrinkles and stretch marks. This process is fastened by the excess of free radicals deriving from environmental damage (photo-ageing), mainly due to UV irradiation.
Perfect volume Important results by Sinerga R&D Laboratories are presented for the
treatment of skin ageing with a second generation active ingredient. ATP 23 is constituted by a lipophilic carrier to enhance antioxidant activity of the tetrapeptide itself, intended to inhibit AGE’s (Advanced Glycation End products) of dermal proteins and to renew skin cells. It is recommended for aged skin, in order to prevent expression wrinkles and to regenerate the skin barrier.
Launch success for Vivimed
Mibelle Biochemistry presented LIPerfection, a new ingredient to boost the lips’ volume. The ingredient’s effect is based on a pungent flavour compound that was extracted from
mustard shoots. This plant compound, called Sinalbin, is known to increase the capillary blood flow and to cause thereby redness and a feeling of warmth when applied to the skin and mucous membranes. The shoots of the mustard plants are especially rich in Sinalbin. In a clinical, placebo-controlled study over 14 days with 18 women, a cream with 2% LIPerfection was found to clearly increase the lip volume. Compared to the placebo, the LIPerfection cream induced also an immediate 10% increase in hydration. Laser Doppler measurements showed that the LIPerfection cream was indeed increasing the skin capillary blood flow when applied to the inner side of the forearms. The effect was maximal 20 minutes after application and completely absent in the control cream.
Vivimed Labs launched Jarocol Blue 15 - a unique direct blue colorant for semi-permanent and permanent hair dyes. Jarocol Blue 15 is stable over a wide pH range of acidic and alkaline media, showing outstanding light and wash fastness. In addition, it provides exceptional vibrancy and uptake of colour at low concentrations compared to other direct blue analogues. Louise Crascall, Chief Marketing Officer, Vivimed Labs Ltd, commented: “Eye catching examples of the shades achievable were displayed in the Innovation Zone, drawing many potential customers to the stand to find out more. The product launch at the show has already generated sales”.
Versatile uses in sunscreens
New, extensive tests underscore the versatile uses of the polyurethane dispersion Baycu-san®
C 1000 from Bayer MaterialScience, which contains
neither cosolvents nor preservati-ves. They confirm, for example, that the SPF-boosting effect is not restricted to formulations that include established UVB filters. The product also significantly increases the SPF of sample formulations with a protective effect based on UVA/B filters. “Baycusan®
C 1000 works wonderfully as an SPF booster, particularly
for formulations containing the modern, high-performance filter BEMT,” commented Dr. Sophie Viala, Glo-bal Head of Business Development for Cosmetic Raw Materials at Bayer MaterialScience. “More cost efficient products can be formulated with Baycusan®
C 1000 that have a very pleasant feel on the skin, meaning that they aren't sticky, waxy or greasy.”
