Clariant


in-cosmetics visitors saw the latest evolution from Clariant which helps customers clearly identify the raw materials they require. The specialty chemicals expert showed how its products provide optimum solutions through a wide range of concepts. Formulators will be able to benefit from a simplified ingredient choice when looking to achieve specific characteristics. What’s more, the company launched its Youth Concept which can be integrated into formulations to provide acne and dandruff treatment, sun protection and a balanced skin tone. Clariant’s vast product range offers performance enhancements, processing advantages and reduced environmental impacts. Products include surfactants, actives, emulsifiers, rheology modifiers and synergistic aids for viscosity and effective preservation.


C 1008 polyurethane dispersion at this


year’s show, a new polymer that keeps hair in shape. The new film-forming polymer enables formulators to manufacture hair sprays with a firm hold. Despite the strong fixing effect, hair styled with the formulation retains a natural appearance. The polymer manufacturer also displayed the polyurethane dispersion Baycusan®


C 1000, which


has great benefits for sunscreen sprays and lotions. Although the polymer itself does not contain any UV-absorbing properties, it can boost the sun protection factor of a formulation. In addition to having a pleasant feel, it also stabilises emulsions – important particularly for sprays – and has very good water resistance.


BioGenics Inc


BioGenic showcased its BioGenic Gensil product which is a hydrous silicone gel that gives moisturising and skin protection through hyaluronic acid and ceramide. The product is a silicone elastomer which is a


great alternative to silicone gels as it does not contain cyclodimethicone.


BRB Silicones


BRB this year exhibited as an independent exhibitor for the very first time at in-cosmetics. The company is experienced in customising a range of polymer fluid blends, and displayed a new range of complete silicone Crosspolymers, unique products which act as thickening agents for water-in-oil and water-in- silicone formulations.


Codif Recherche & Nature Codif displayed its Pink Pepperslim product which stops the transformation of small lipid droplets into larger ones, reduces fat storage and strengthens the lipolytic activity to release off fatty acids by up to 100%. This fat burning action is completed by an activation of microcirculation, encouraging the elimination of wastes. The slimming oil incorporates adipocytes that stimulate weight loss on the waist, hips and thighs.

Ecoverte in ECOCERT®


Ecoverte extracts which can be used formulations and are 100% natural


and organic. Other products include Liposome Herbasec® which is a novel range of liposomal-based botanical extracts in a lyophilized powder form and Natural AHA Complex, three naturally-derived alpha hydroxy acids in powder form which can be used as a gentle exfoliant for the skin and scalp.


CP Kelco


CP Kelco was on hand to show its latest concept for skin care based on hydrocolloid emulsifier pectin. Combined with naturally derived stabilisers, the unique combination of rheology modifiers produces a lotion with desired pseudoplasticity – important both for stability, appearance and feel. Additionally, CP Kelco’s nature made solution for oil-in-water emulsions enables easy and reproducible processing for no heat added preparation. This


naturally derived emulsifying concept performs at skin friendly pH’s and was developed to be used in ECOCERT®


approved products.


CP Kelco discussed more about this concept during its Innovation Seminar on Wednesday 30 March from 16:30 - 17:00 in Theatre 1.


Cremer Care Cremer Care showcased its newest product range CremerCOOR at this year’s show, which comprises a broad range of fatty acid esters. CremerCOOR esters, mainly based on glycerin, polyglycerins and other vegetable based alcohols, are suitable for a variety of personal care applications. It works to offer formulators great benefits without using synthetic components in their beauty products.


DKSH DKSH’s experts were on hand at this year’s show to highlight its commitment to strengthen the organisation in Japan and to enlarge its product portfolio to be able to cater to the unique needs of the R&D frontlines of Japanese cosmetic companies. The company implements an expansion strategy that focuses on growth activities by acquiring new suppliers, strengthening relationships with key suppliers and expanding the customer base. Moreover, domestic cosmetic manufacturers who plan to enter Asian markets are supported with market reports and DKSH’s marketing, sales, distribution and after-sales-services.

Leading innovators Dow Chemical Companies featured a wide range of products from its numerous business portfolios within the industry that work to enhance the benefits of a number of formulations. In particular, Dow Personal Care were keen to talk visitors through its conditioning technology for hair care EcoSmooth™


Silk Conditioning Polymers.


The novel ingredient offers the benefits of conditioning polymers without the use of silicone, especially beneficial for experts looking to reduce the build up of foam during the development stage. Dow Personal Care presented an Innovation Seminar on 31 March from 15:00 – 15:30 at the show entitled Reinventing Conditioning with the EcoSmooth Platform.
