OQHA News June 2011 Handicapping Brunches At Ajax Downs
In 2011 OQHA is working with Teen Ranch to run the Quar- ter Horse show on the grounds June 18 & 19th. Please come out and support your association by showing at this new format show. THREE judges over two days, three sets of points in two days. Judges are Cyndi Brown, TX, Jan Steffl TX and Dean Ross AB. May 9, 2011, Toronto, ON - The Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program is pleased to announce that four handicapping brunches will be held at Ajax Downs this year. These brunches are meant to introduce new audiences to Quarter Horse racing and to teach them about the different types of races and wagering options.
Participants will learn the basics of handicapping, how to read a racing program and how to place a bet; and will receive tips on how to increase their chances of winning. A complimentary buffet brunch is included prior to the start of the first race.
The guest handicapper will be Peter Gross, Sports Special- ist at 680 News Radio, Race Commentator for Ajax Downs, and Editor of Down The Stretch magazine.

Sunday, June 5 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 6 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Reservations for seating at a Handicapping Brunch must be made through the Ontario Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program. These events are provided free of charge, however credit card information will be required to reserve your place. A charge of $25 per person will be charged to your card if you do not attend the event. Cancellations will be accepted up to two days prior to the event.

2011 OQHBF All Breed Slot Classes
New for 2011! The OQHBF is once again holding the very popular slot classes. We have added an Open Trail and Lunge Line class and changed the halter class to non-pro. We have also decreased the entry fees and extended our
deadlines. Be sure to get your slots purchased prior to August 22nd, 2011.
We hope to see you in August! OQHBF Slot Class Rules 1. Slots are open to all breeds 2. Slots are limited to 20 slots per class
3. Slot owners and exhibitors do not need to be members of OQHA to show in the slot classes
4. Open slots can be purchased for $200 up until Monday August 22nd, 2011
5. Non-Pro Slots can be purchased for $100 up until Monday August 22nd , 2011
6. Trail entry’s can be named or changed up until 5pm Friday August 26th, 2011
7. WP and HUS classes can be named or changed up until noon, Saturday August 27th, 2011.
8. Halter entry’s can be named or changed up until 8am, Sat- urday August 27th, 2011.
9. Classes will be jackpotted (85% of entry fee’s) 15% with- held for administration fees
10. Slot classes will not be AQHA Pointed
11. There will be 5 judges which will be selected by the Slot Owners (not necessarily AQHA judges). Placings will be on the average of the scores.
12. The 5 judges with the most votes for each class will be chosen to judge that class. 13. Absolutely no slot refunds
14. In the event that you do not have a horse to show in the class, you may sell your slot to another horse owner prior to 8am Saturday August 27th, 2011.
15. If slot is sold prior to August 22nd , please notify Sharon Hammer with the new slot owner name
16. If slot is sold after August 22nd , please notify QOHBF Show Secretary of the new slot owner name. 17. Registration papers for proof of age will have to be shown upon registration of horse to a slot. (Can be done day of show)
