York Regional Spring Forest Festival

April 30th turned out to be a beautiful sunny day just perfect for York Regional Spring Forest Festival which was held in the North Tract. I am a member of the Regional Forest Advisory Team consisting of various user groups and on behalf of OTRA set up a table at this event to promote shared
use of the trails and recre- ational riding in the forest. It was well attended, people brought their own spades and planted seedlings, listened to live music by a very talented duo, went on a guided birding tour, watched a horse logging demonstra- tion and enjoyed horse- drawn wagon rides through the forest. However, the highlight of the day was when Barry brought the mini horse Tim Bits Too. Tim Bits stole the show!. Chil- dren and adults alike where drawn to the little horse and she enjoyed the petting and attention. Carol also rode her thoroughbred Briar along the path with booths and tents on either side.
Briar was a little hesi- tant at first but soon got used to the commotion and was very well behaved which shows that we can all get along on trails.

News From The Board
THE TRAIL RIDER’S HANDBOOK ~ Now that the riding season is here, it’s time to remind everyone to review the small white booklet you received when you became a member titled “The Trail Rider’s Handbook”. The information contained in it, are meant for everyone’s safety and enjoyment of both the trails and camping. If you cannot locate your copy, email me and I will email a copy to you.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS ~ Bonnie Simpson has decided to leave the Otra Board of Directors to pursue her positions with OEF and OTC and Equine Canada more fully. Bonnie will continue to Represent Otra on these boards. We wish to thank Bonnie for all her assistance on the Board and wish her continued suc- cess with keeping trails open for equestrian use.
CLINIC ~ We are sorry to say the Clinic scheduled for May was cancelled as only a couple of registrations were received.
FUN-D RIDE ~ When: July 30th, 31st & August 1st . Where: Pine River Ranch, Everett. Mark your calendars for this fun filled weekend. There are a variety of rides that go out each day to the Dufferin County and Simcoe County forests. The trails are sandy with some hills. Sat- urday night an all you can eat BBQ is included. Please be sure to have your registration with fee sent in by July 24/11.
