Eric Lamaze Returns to Number One in World Rankings

Lausanne, Switzerland – Canadian Olympic Champion Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, is once again the number one show jumping rider in the world.

The new Rolex Rider Rank- ings, released by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) on June 1, 2011, show Lamaze back in the number one spot with a total of 3,658 points. Reigning European Champion Kevin Staut of France, who has held the number one posi- tion since August of 2010, has dropped to number two with 3,457 points while Irishman Billy Twom- ey is ranked third with 3,245 points. The Rolex Rider Rankings are compiled on a monthly basis,

and all points earned in FEI-sanc- tioned competition in the past 12 months are counted.

“This past month made a big difference in the number of world ranking points I earned, but it is consistent results all year long that helped put me in the number one position,” said Lamaze who has consistently been in the top four in the Rolex Rider Rankings since being named the Olympic Champi- on in August of 2008. “You have to maintain your position, and you need great owners and great horses to make that happen.”

Lamaze’s sensational month in May began with a second place

Equine Canada Export Market Development Leads Canadian Equestrian Ambassadors to Chinese Endurance Race

Ottawa, ON — Through the Path to China initiative led by Equine Canada’s Export Market Development pro- gram (EC Export), Canadian endurance riders have been invited to participate in an 80 km endurance race taking place in Zhaosu Xinjiang, China, this June. “Canada’s participation in the Zhaosu endurance race is one of many opportunities that came as a result of the EC Export path finding mission to China that we conducted this past March,” stated Susan Stewart, a con- sultant to EC Export.

al. “This opportunity will give both nations’ riders added international expo- sure which is important in supporting the competitive landscape of endurance world-wide. Riding and

working alongside each other will also help build relationships that can lead to other areas of coopera- tion in the future.”
