Cranbourne Stone uses hand- crafted ‘sculptured’ stone

over its lifetime. Tower Infinity is manufactured on an enhanced quality vinyl and includes UV and fade resistant inks under a protective top coat. Microbline is a new liner underlay product from Certikin North and is designed to give an extra level of confidence when lining a pool. Microbline is applied and handled like any other underlay product, but the fine, tough fibres are individually coated and protected by the trade mark Aegis Microbe Shield solution to offer a defence against biological and fungal attack from behind the liner. The Microbe Shield barrier is bound into the structure of the underlay and thus becomes a permanent part of the textile, retaining its effectiveness for the life of the product. It controls micro-organisms on contact and any arrested microbes cannot alter their structure and become immune to the antimicrobial agent – i.e. it is never consumed or altered by microorganisms.

FINISHING TOUCHES IN AND AROUND THE POOL

The ability to have an entirely matching swimming pool hard landscape surround – from

patio paving to the coping stones at the water’s edge – can be achieved through Golden Coast and the range of Cranbourne Stone pavings. Using natural materials, Cranbourne hand- crafted ‘sculptured’ stone can produce an old, new, cottage or contemporary effect, matching the setting to create a perfect pool surround and avoiding the usual stark difference between coping stones and the surrounding hard landscape. There is a range of natural textured stone for regular sized pools, whilst Cranbourne can create made-to-measure bespoke designs to suit free-form pools. It is even possible to have steps leading into the water crafted in the same material.

FLEXFLOORING TRANSFORM GUILDFORD LIDO’S PADDLING POOLS

Guildford Lido opened its Olympic sized heated swimming pool to the public at the end of April for the 2011 season. Flexflooring refurbished two paddling pools at Guildford Lido ready for the long hot summer! The Lido, owned by Guildford Borough Council is in four and a half acres of landscaped gardens.

Flexflooring took on opportunity to undertake to improve the aesthetic appeal of the paddling pools area and increase the safety of the interior and surround. The project was also a major milestone for it is the first UK installation to include both Rubbaflex and UltraTUFF™.

Simon Hubble, Flexflooring’s Technical Sales Director explained: “It made perfect sense to incorporate both, as our Rubbaflex rubber pool surround is a great non-slip product for wet leisure environments, with a soft feeling underfoot but, as a porous product it is not always the most suitable for underwater applications. On the other hand UltraTUFF™ pool and deck coating is completely non porous so it is ideal for swimming pool interiors as well changing rooms and pool surrounds too.” The overall effect completely rejuvenated the

area. The use of three distinct colours helps to separate the surround clearly from the pool step and pool floor ensuring users see the step when entering and leaving the pool and the addition of the sea creatures creates added interest for the children using the pools.
