‘HIGH PROFILE SHOWS WILL HELP CREATE MORE DEMAND FOR OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES’
BSPF Managing Director Chris Hayes looks at the decision to take the message about what SPATA and BISHTA has to offer out to a series of high profile consumer exhibitions this summer and autumn
he summer season is hotting up and to increase awareness in swimming pools, SPATA is going to be heading off this year to a number of consumer shows to get our message out to the public.
T
Full details of our plans are in this issue of SPN on the Pipeline page – page 28.
By creating more demand from consumers to use companies within SPATA, who work to industry standards and signing up to a Code of Ethics, along with the value of SpataShield, stakeholder accounts and the various membership benefits, such as discounted services, this is helping to create a growing interest in new membership applications.
KEY DIARY DATES:
MAY 24th
AUGUST 10th 11th
SPATA Regional meeting (East) 27th - 30th Grand Designs Live, Scotland BISHTA Committee
SPATA National Council and BSPF Board
30th - 1st TC 402 Paris
SEPTEMBER 29th
BISHTA technical meeting
FEBRUARY 2012 4th - 6th SPATEX, Brighton Metropole
These events are a first for us and a number of members will be supporting the shows by sharing the costs and providing staff to talk with members of the public about the benefits of owning a swimming pool or spa. In this issue of SPN, there is an article on SPATA’s important support for British Standards (BSI), the leading global provider of standards, management systems, business improvement and regulatory approval, and both SPATA and BISHTA members are able to benefit from a 20% discount when purchasing these standards directly from the SPATA office. Some members may wish to consider becoming a member of BSI, as this entitles those companies to a 50% discount in their own right (but they cannot claim the extra 20% discount from SPATA as well)!
The SPATEX review article in the April issue of SPN has created a lot of debate in the industry and a great opportunity to answer some of the frequently asked questions about the annual show. There is an article from the Directors of
SPATA PAVILION AT LIW 2011
A new style SPATA pavilion is set to be a key development at the popular Leisure Industry Week exhibition later this year. The three day event, at Birmingham’s NEC venue, will again be promoting a pool and spa sector within the show and is certain to attract specialist exhibiting pool and spa manufacturers but plans are under way for a special area for SPATA and its members to meet visitors.
A number of SPATA members are already committed to exhibiting, so there will be the opportunity to visit them at the show, starting with those members in the SPATA Pavilion. Look out for more details.
SPATEX in this issue and I am sure there will be plenty more debate on this vital event in the industry calendar.
On the subject of the SPATEX exhibition, I would like to say a huge thank you to Sandy Crockford (the SPATEX co-ordinator) who has been a fabulous asset for the British Swimming Pool Federation and SPATEX for the past five years. Sandy has decided to find a new challenge in the beautiful town of Romsey in Hampshire, where she grew up and we wish her well. Sandy knows she will be missed! Following recent interviews, I am delighted to say that Helen Mulingani (below) has been appointed as the new SPATEX co-ordinator. Finally, this issue sees another BISHTA member (Blue Lagoon Spas) and a SPATA member (Aqua Rio Swimming Pools) in the spotlight as part of our ongoing series to highlight the work of member companies.
Do please remember that if you have any news about industry events, SPATA or BISHTA issues, we would like to consider them for these pages within SPN.
