“The most functional conservatories are those that can be used all year round and heat, light and privacy are often the key reasons why people stop using their glass rooms,” says Sarah Quilliam, head of product design at Hillarys.“But by adding blinds to your conservatory you can turn it into anything you want it to be, no matter what the season”.

LET THE OUTSIDE IN

Spruce up your home with a delightful sunny new room this spring

s we approach the time of year where our thoughts may be starting to turn to the outside and brightening up our homes by as little as applying some fresh paint to adding extra living space, it’s the ideal time to consider the possibilities offered by a conservatory.

There are few better ways of bringing the outside into your home than by building a glass conservatory or extension to add useful living space. Today, a well designed conservatory will be bright and spacious, a stepping stone from indoors to outdoors. But there’s no point in adding an extra room unless you give it an identity and use it on a daily basis. Hillarys is on a mission to make the conservatory a room for all reasons and seasons - and people in glass houses need blinds!

Cool and calm, contemporary and chic, or warm and cosy, a conservatory can transform your home and create a totally new way of using space. Accented with the right blinds for how you use your space, anything is possible - a home office, lounge, a playroom, an intimate dining room, or even an unusual guest room or bathroom.

A far cry from the drab corrugated glass lean-to of yesteryear, conservatories today have so much more to offer. Keep the room cool and create a shady corner to relax in during the summer by pulling down some gorgeous blinds with reflective backing. And as the nights draw in, neat pleats will give an interesting effect that will create a lovely cosy feel to a conservatory. Abundant light doesn’t mean you have to be afraid of colour - be bold and choose a vibrant red or orange pleated blind to add some welcoming warmth and cheer.
