and the Churchill Hospital, an evening of 60s nostalgia was recently hosted at Banbury’s GF Club. The evening, organised by 60s music enthusiast and Radio Horton presenter Bob Dainty, featured bands Cover to Cover, The Roadknights, The Lee Malvern Four, The Teenbeats and The Astranoughts. Making their first appearance for 45 years were The Roadknights with Chris Blee, Bob and Charlie Moore, Alan Waygood and guest drummer Nigel Barrett.

43 years, The Teenbeats (Martin Rees, Michael Cowley, Martin Burt and Paul Rees) sang a selection of Beatles, Rolling Stones and Byrds songs and many more including a great rendition of Roy Orbisons’ In Dreams and still people were up dancing and wanting more. Following The Teenbeats, The
Astranoughts, Banbury’s own super group appeared on the stage dressed in their trademark blackshirts and white ties, looking very smart.

The organisers thanked the General Foods club manager and committee, all the sound system mixers and everyone who supplied equipment
on the evening to make it such a success. The event organiser, Bob Dainty commented: “Thank you to all Banbury’s 60s music fans who made the evening such a success. We have raised a good sum for very worthwhile causes and have had a very good time doing so. I am sorry for everyone who did not get tickets but we hope to have a cd recorded on the night available to purchase soon.”
