Pond fatalities I
t’s not just the gardens that have suffered casualties this winter, ponds have had their fair share of victims too. Many were completely iced over for weeks during the big freeze. Inspect your pond now and remove any pond plants that have died, as you don’t want to leave them there to rot in the water. Trim back any dead or dying foliage that overhangs the pond too.
Cotswold stone at Chelsea T
he mellow tones of Cotswold stone will
be a feature at this years Chelsea Flower Show. After winning Best in Show for two consecutive years at the Show, The Daily Telegraph are aiming high with this year’s garden
designer – Clive West – also a previous Chelsea winner. His design is loosely inspired by a trip he made to Roman ruins in Libya and he will be combining some of those ideas, such as the classical columns, to a sunken garden using reclaimed Cotswold stone.
Trees not toasters

present the happy couple with a tree instead. A spokesman for Barcham, who hold a Royal Warrant for supplying trees to the Queen said: ‘Trees add hugely to the environment and look after the world around us. What could be better or a more permanent way to wish happiness to a couple?
