Inner Wheel collection 11th. December 2010

t is difficult to believe from
these photographs that up until Friday 10th. December the pavements and roads were covered in snow and ice. Then, quite out of the blue, a thaw set in and the decision was taken to go ahead with a collection. The Rotary sleigh was put into position near the Hilldene Shopping area in Harold Hill, and the Inner Wheel collection was under way. Because the roads and the pavements were clear there were lots of people around and the Inner wheel members, assisted by some
Rotarians and Jan Taffs, collected over £300.

delighted and expressed her thanks to all those who helped, especially Jim Haines who set up the sleigh, came back to the collection point at midday to top up the generator and then returned at 4pm to take it away on a day when he had prob-
lems of his own. He woke up to find that he had a flood in his house due to a leak in the roof and a ceiling had come down! Now that is
