first edition. With the pencil signature, dated 1925, of the artist E. McKnight Kauffer who designed the hogarth press wolf’s head device.


A film version of mrs dalloway was made in 1997 by dutch film director marleen gorris. it was adapted from Woolf’s novel by british actress eileen Atkins and starred vanessa redgrave in the title role. the cast included natascha mcelhone, lena headey, rupert graves, michael kitchen, Alan cox, sarah badel and katie carr.


mrs dalloway was an important element of the plot of both the michael cunningham novel The Hours and its subsequent screen adaptation. cunningham’s title was derived from Woolf’s original title for Mrs Dalloway.

A fascinating collection of witty cartoons of churchill, hitler and stalin, together with highly finished drawings of fighter aircraft and naval ships.

1. cartoon of Winston churchill in characteristic bow tie, glowering and smoking a cigar.


2. cartoon of hitler dressed as a woman taking an axe to a portrait of stalin.


3. cartoon captioned “the lion has Wings” showing a british fighter portrayed as a snarling lion attacking a scared looking german eagle.


4. cartoon of stalin telling hitler (again dressed as a woman in suspenders and high heels) to “git up them stairs” with hiltler’s reply “oh yeh”.
