first edition. clarke’s second imitation of dickens’s christmas numbers of All the Year Round, the last of which had appeared two years before this in 1867. in 1868 he had issued A forecastle frolic: Being an extra Christmas number conducted by Charles Clarke. charles clarke is best know for his sporting novels.
