is out on who will be crowned Best Crew - Capt “Ski” Koniarski and LCpl Bryan are the great pretenders and the OC and Warrior Sergeant Major were last seen throwing High 5s for finally finishing a range with no stoppages.

as Play Station 2 but without the fun) and two weeks of track-bashing on the Warrior park (no simulator there, but you can’t have it all…). The weather during this period was extraordinary with average night-time temperatures of around -12ºC: pretty chilly and a far cry from what we were used to and a sign of things to come. After a well- earned week off, we’ve spent March getting ready for Canada. Another epic series of Battle Camps have seen C Company live fire up to Fire Team Attack at Night and pass 23 separate Primary and Secondary Crews through their Warrior Annual Crew Tests. The stars of the show here have been the range teams, in particular Lt Codling, WO2 Price, Sgt Scott, Sgt Smith and Sgt Timperley for their mounted range work, and SSgt Hewitt, our Fitter Section, CSgt Mulingani and Sgt Howdle for somehow coaxing a weary BGTI fleet through its short period of time under our control. At the time of writing, and with four crews still out on a night shoot, the jury

And so we look forward to our North American adventure. Over the next few weeks, 137 soldiers from C Company will deploy to Canada on Ex Prairie Thunder, most of us a little earlier than we had expected. Forty of our drivers look forward to spending May helping BATUS safety staff put the Scots DG Battle Group through a live firing phase while the remainder of the Company acts as the COEFOR (Contemporary Operating Environment Force - enemy in old money) during the dry phases. After that, we become Blue Force exercising troops with the chance to show what we’ve got then some more Adventure Training and what we hope will be a fantastic German summer.

7 Platoon

by Lt O Flackett Sitrep

7 Platoon (Sexy 7) has bedded into Germany well. Since arriving in August 2009, the Platoon has welcomed a few new faces bringing us to a fighting strength of 33. Sgt “Smudger” Smith (WR Sgt guru) has returned from his instructor’s posting to

Bovington with Pte Garnett who is fresh from ITC Catterick. Congratulations to Cpls Buisava and Lovabalava who both excelled on the Section Commander’s Battle Course and join Cpl Coates as the remaining Section Commanders of 7 Platoon. The Platoon is now in the enviable position of having a Pl Sgt, Wr Sgt, three SCBC-qualified Section Commanders and five LCpls - Mac, Tron, Reyno, Smudge and Armstrong, all of whom are qualified gunners and commanders.

Fallingbostel

On arrival in Germany, the Platoon, with a few atts and dets - WSM’s “Frosty” Midwinter and “Ginge” Price - decided on Hannover as the location for our first excursion. The plan of action for the day was a much-needed shopping spree and sightseeing followed by copious numbers of Bratwurst. As a Platoon Commander, these outings allow you to learn things about the Platoon that would normally go unnoticed such as Pte Shone’s unique dancing style, Hill’s ability to sleep standing up, Pendlebury’s terrible taste in T-shirts and the fact that German restaurants do not appreciate Malawo’s selection of G-Unit baseball caps, to name but a few. The Main Effort when organising a trip to a local city is to encourage the men to travel, to explore and to appreciate the opportunities that being posted to central Europe now afford us. As a result of the excursion into Hannover, every man had ordered a train
