1949 as a Lieutenant. He joined the Army Emergency Reserve (Mobile Defence Corps) in May 1955 and became Signals Officer 7th Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment (V) in May 1957 and OC Halesowen detachment A Company in September 1960 as a Captain. In May 1965, he was promoted Major and took command of C Company in Malvern, retiring in April 1967 on the reorganisation of the TA. His civilian employment was as experimental officer with IMI from 1952 to 1968 working on guided weapon research. In 1968 he was a Management Executive with Formica Ltd until 1986 when he became a self-employed Management/Computer Consultant.


TANSLEY Derek “Curly” Cpl 23564510


Of Worcester on 2 April 2010 aged 72. Born in Worcester on 25 October 1937, he joined the Army on 30 July 1958 and was posted to 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment in UK. He served in UK until August when he was posted to the Caribbean until March 1960; he spent most of his time in the Signals Platoon, and he was discharged on 29 July 1965. On leaving the Army, he became a self-employed plasterer. His hobbies were fishing, bowling, darts, shooting, cards, gardening and being a handyman. He was a regular attendee at the Reunion.


TAYLOR Frederick A 6024467


Of Great Clacton on 29 December 2009 aged 95. He joined C Company 2/5th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in Tunisia; he was wounded in Salerno in September 1943 and again at Calabritto near Mount Camino. He fought in Greece in 1944 and then through Austria in 1945.


TODD Arthur George Stuart Capt 372714


Of Lower Wick, Worcester, on 15 April 2010 aged 77. Born in Truro on 14 December 1932, he enlisted in The Devon and Cornwall Light Infantry on 8 December 1953 and then transferred to The Worcestershire Regiment in Norton Barracks on 22 February 1957. He served with the 1st Batalion in The West Indies (1957 – 1960), BAOR (1960 – 1965), Gibraltar (1965 – 1966) and as PSI with the TA in Worcester and Kidderminster from 1 July 1968 until 27 February 1970. He continued his service with 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment on Amalgamation on 28 February 1970 serving in Berlin and Northern Ireland;

Of Victoria, Australia, on 15 May 2010 aged 83. Born in Chelsea on 12 May 1927 and educated at Malvern College, Arthur enlisted into The Grenadier Guards on 18 May 1945 at Sandown Park serving in the ranks until December. He attended pre-OCTU at Wrotham and OCTU at Sandhurst from January to December 1946 when he was commissioned into the North Staffordshire Regiment; he was demobilised in 1948. He became a tea-planter in India before being commissioned on a Short Service Commission and, subsequently, a Regular Commission into The Worcestershire Regiment in 1949. He instructed at the Mercian Brigade Depot from 30 November 1949 until 17 April 1950 before being attached to 1st Battalion The Nigerian Regiment from 17 April to 8 October 1950. He was medically boarded in UK from October 1950 until March 1951 when he returned to The Mercian Bde Training Centre at Whittington Barracks. On 29 May 1952, he was posted as a Captain to 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment in Malaya and Bulford until 9 November 1954. Following this, he was posted to 3rd Battalion The King’s African Rifles as Regimental Signals Officer. He left the Army on 12 November 1957 and retired to Kenya and worked for the East African Power and Lighting Company Ltd as Assistant Personnel Manager. He married Marjorie in Nairobi in April 1958 and they moved to Australia in 1968 and settled in Melbourne, Victoria, where he worked for the Gas And Fuel Corporation (Public Gas Utility) achieving the position of Personnel Manager by his retirement in 1990. For many years after retirement, he was a voluntary guide at Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.


TRETHEWEY David Ivor CSgt 22978603


he was discharged on 3 January 1976. He was a keen sportsman and he was renowned for his sense of humour. After leaving the Army, he became an engineer with British Aerospace until 1991. He attended the Reunion regularly.


TURNER Anton C Lt 538124


Of Tanzania on 1 November 2009. Commissioned into the Royal Tank Regiment in April 1992, he was attached in February 1994 to 1st Bn The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment for the Northern Ireland tour. He transferred from the Royal Tank Regiment to The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment and took command of 7 Platoon C Company. He deployed with the 1st Battalion to Bosnia and later became Platoon Commander of 9 Platoon. He deployed to the United Arab Emirate to assist with the Young Officers’ exercise. He left the army in 1997 to attend university after which he worked with Control Risks, an independent specialist risk consultancy. Anton died as a result of a tragic accident in Tanzania whilst making a children’s programme for the BBC.


UNDERWOOD John Maurice


Of Cheltenham on 2 September 2009 aged 84. Originally from Streetly, he enlisted into The South Staffordshire Regiment and served in India, Ceylon and Burma during the Second World War. He served in the Territorial Army after WW2.


VINCENT Canon Noel Thomas Lt


Of Liverpool on 31 July 2009 aged 72. Born on 19 December 1936 in Kampala, Uganda, his missionary family was forced to flee across Africa on the outbreak of the Second World War. The family eventually settled in Worcestershire where Noel Vincent attended The King’s School from 1948 – 1955. He was a chorister in Worcester Cathedral Choir. In August 1955, was commis-sioned as a 2nd Lieutenant National Service Officer with The Worces-tershire Regiment, serving
