With over 155 HIVE Information Centres now established worldwide, all of which are networked through the Internet, the delivery of information both at local level and between units, wherever they are, is fast and up to date. The range of information is extensive with a primary focus on enquiries for relocation, education, housing, employment and training, health care facilities and knowledge of the local area and its facilities.
All HIVE information officers are professionally trained and publicly funded by the MoD to deliver and manage a bespoke information service for the local community, within the MoD tri Service HIVE policies. Their Services is an integral factor in the success of the HIVE organisation today.

Military Families Resource Centre (MFRC) Tel: 403 544 - 5567 MFRCs are run as ‘not-for-profit’ organisations on behalf of the Department of Defence, Canada to support military families in all Canadian bases. They are very similar to the BATUS HIVE in being able to provide information about CFB Suffield and the wider area, but it also offers clubs and activities for both adults and children.
The mission of the Suffield MFRC is to promote the health and well-being of the community, and its goal is to enable families to become full participating members of the community through the provision of programmes and services.
Although the MFRC is a Canadian organisation, it provides services to all personnel and their dependants whether Canadian or British at CFB Suffield.
The main MFRC office is located in the Community Centre in Ralston Village, but there is also a satellite office in Medicine Hat.
The MFRC provides a welcome brief, as well as a ‘meet and greet’ session for all arriving families.
Amongst other things, the MFRC provides many craft and sporting activity courses, runs youth club, ‘kiddie kare’, the school lunch programme and employment assistance.
