2.The soldier/officer elects to remain unaccompanied until such time as suitable accommodation becomes available.

Occupation of Married Quarters

Married quarters will not normally be available until 5 working days prior to the ‘Report for Duty’ date of the new arrival and call forward will reflect this.

Reporting faults and repairs Faults in married quarters should be reported to the Housing Estate Assistant on 403544 5565 who records the fault and gives a job number. All repairs are carried out by Canadian Forces Housing Agency (CFHA) and are prioritised with urgent repairs being carried out within 12 hrs, important repairs within 24hrs, and routine repairs within 14 - 28 working days. In order that repairs can be carried out as expeditiously as possible, you will be phoned to arrange access to your quarter. Routine jobs are grouped together so that a contractor from Medicine Hat can complete several tasks on the same visit. If the tradesman who will be carrying out the work is unable to make contact to arrange access, there will be a delay in the work being completed; therefore it is in your interest to have an answer phone in order that you do not miss any important phone calls. In the event of an emergency out of office hours, there is an emergency number that may be used. However, in the event that the fault reported is not deemed to be an emergency, the householder may be charged the emergency call out fee.

Internal Moves

If you and your family find your allocated married quarter unsuitable, a request to be relocated can be submitted to the Housing Commandant (BATUS QM) stating the reasons why a move is being requested. The housing committee will then examine the case to determine if re-housing is appropriate. Regardless of the result, you will be notified in writing. If the committee approves your move, a new married quarter will be allocated. If there is not a suitable married quarter immediately available, you will be informed in writing, with an estimate of waiting time. At this point you will be asked if they wish to wait or cancel your application.

It should be noted that unless there are exceptional circumstances, disturbance allowance cannot be claimed on re-housing.
