ESTRELL♠S POKER TOUR


The Estrellas Poker Tour, supported by PokerStars.com, returns for a second season from February to


September 2011. In Season 2, there are new tournament stops in San Sebastian and Ibiza, along with return visits to Malaga, Alicante and Madrid, which all hosted events in Season 1. In addition, EPT Barcelona will be incorporated into the tour. Each tournament stop (excluding EPT


Barcelona) will be a six-day fi esta of poker with an enhanced side event schedule and a 1,000 main event. The new season builds on the success of the fi rst, in which over 850 players


competed in three main events, with almost 750,000 in prize money awarded. All main event winners will also receive a


5,300 seat into EPT Barcelona. The leaderboard is being expanded to


include side events as well in Season 2. At the end of the season, the player with the most points will be declared the Estrellas Player of the Year, winning a sponsorship package for the third season of the tour, courtesy of PokerStars. com. The EPT will return to Moscow following a change of heart by authorities on whether poker is a sport or not, and whether gambling is against the law or not. The new law will state that certain casinos run by certain people will be allowed, provided certain other people receive certain ‘assurances’ from the fi rst people. Players competing in the WSOP Main Event will be expected to walk to the tournament from Los Angeles in what Harrah’s will call “The Harrajj”. The pilgrimage of 270 miles across the Mojave Desert must be undertaken by all competitors. Luggage-carrying donkeys will available for rental at $35 a mile and water will be supplied to all pilgrims in 20cl bottles available at $9.99, or $13.99 chilled.

The venue for the WSOP Main Event will be moved from the Rio hotel to a hangar at Nellis Airforce base, seven miles north. All eight thousand competitors will ante up at the same time. To save money on dealers, play will be conducted on mobile phones for the fi rst twenty levels, with battery chargers available for rental from the organisers at a dollar an amp. For players wishing to avail themselves of bathroom facilities, Harrahs will provide portable toilets two miles away from the hangar, with the donkeys still available at $35 a mile.


A new unoffi cial World Series will be set up, in which players will be competing for second-hand bracelets from the WSOP. The Razz winner will take away Paul “Eskimo” Clark’s 1999 bangle. The Limit Holdem champ can roll on T J Cloutier’s 2005 prize and the Main Event winner will walk away with Peter Eastgate’s 2008 trophy. Tony G will participate in all three tournaments, having probably fi nally realised that one bracelet isn’t nearly big enough to make a collar for his German Shepherd, Zasko.
