ISILDUR1 MOVING TO LONDON?

Rumours says that Viktor “Isildur1” Blom has moved to London after selling his penthouse apartment in Gothenburg. He is no longer listed on the website Ratsit which keeps track of every Swedish resident. In mid-October he was registered as living in the municipality of Gothenburg but by mid-November his name was no longer to be found on the list.

It is still uncertain if Viktor Blom is in fact “Isildur1”, but must people in the poker community assume that he is. Because of the very strict tax rules in Sweden it means that if

“Isildur1” would step forward and reveal his identity, then he would have to pay an enormous amount to the Swedish state. Therefore it

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom

would make sense if he moved to London as there is another rumour that says he is about to sign with PokerStars.

BACK IN THE BLACK?

Denmark’s highest roller, Gus Hansen, started out online in great shape this year, and seemed eager to show that 2009 when he lost $5 million was just a mistake to be forgotten. Nevertheless he was hit by a huge downswing starting over the summer which reached its lowest point in the end of October where the bottom line showed a total loss of $3.6million. But since then he has found his A game once again, and won more than two million dollars in just two months. If he continues this run, there might be a chance of breaking even for the year.

SKJERVOY IS UNSTOPPABLE

The pride of Norway, Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen, is one guy who doesn’t have to worry about breaking even. He has been crushing the nosebleed tables on Full Tilt Poker more or less since he made his entry on the site. His winning-curve has been has been heading towards the sky since September, and he is now up $3.3 million for the year. That actually makes him the second biggest winner online this year, with only Daniel “Jungleman12” Cates in front of him. Erik “DIN_FRU”

Sagström from Sweden and Theo “THEDONKEYNO1” Jørgensen from Denmark are other Skandiis who looks to fi nish the year with green numbers, while things doesn’t look too bright for our Finnish friends Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro. The Swedish online phenomenon “Isildur1” is down with approximately $400.000.

New name on the street… José Quintas



For the past for years José Quintas has been building an image of its own around him. The youth from Espinho has been famous for crashing almost every online rake race he joins, for winning iPoker’s Fort Knox Jackpot SNG, which gave him over e120,000, and for being an excellent live poker player with an aggressive attitude that is hard to compete with.

All these attributes paid off as he fi nally won a live poker event and it had to be the PokerStars Solverde Poker Season Main Event. For his performance, he cashed over 65.000! The PokerStars Solverde Poker Season Main Event started on December 7th with the usual super satellites and side events. The Casino de Espinho wasn’t big enough for the turnout as every single event had a late registration list with double digits.

The Main Event kicked off on the Friday at 5pm with 264 players that bought in with 1,000+100. This gave them 30,000 chips and one hour levels. With a blind structure similar to the EPTs, we were in for a long three poker days. By the end of day one, local veteran Lino Cunha led the way and was very honest when it was time to explain how he ended the day with 150,000 after clashing with Team PokerStars PRO Juan Maceiras. He said: “I played bad and got lucky!”

YOUNG GUNNER STORMS SOLVERDE POKER SE♠SON

Day 2 had 10 levels to be played and they were hard on the players. By the end of the day, there wasn’t a single soul on the Atlantico Room that didn’t want to go to sleep and cool their brains out. There were some epic plays, too many to be described here but the highlight came on Day 3. Quintas ended the Day 2 in the lead but quickly lost it to Juan Maceiras who had made a fabulous comeback.

K-Q-3-K-T and the pot had around 180,000. Quintas bet 130,000 and Juan Maceiras went all in. Quintas went into the tank for a few minutes and out of the blue said: “Call!” Everybody went nuts to see their cards and Quintas fl ipped Jacks and Juan mucked…

‘‘ The board showed

The two were at the top with both having half of the chips in play. And then they clashed. The advantage was on the Spaniard’s side with 2.7m against Quintas’ 1.3m. They both played a pot and ended up on the river. The board showed K-Q-3- K-T and the pot had around 180,000. Quintas bet 130,000 and Juan Maceiras went all in. ’’ From that moment until victory it all

went smoothly. Quintas ended up Heads Up against the 2007 Main Event Winner, Hugo Félix after Eduardo Pinto left in third. Quintas was running hot and nobody stood in the way. The chips had gone in on the turn when Quintas held top pair and Felix an open ended straight fl ush draw. The pair held up and José Quintas was crowned as the PokerStars Solverde Poker Season Main Event Winner!
