Italian Simone Lombardo was awarded the title after winning the e1,500 NLH European Masters of Poker Malta main event at


Casino di Venezia. However, it was second placed Mathias Fricke who


took home the lion’s share of the prize pool in the 241 runner event after a deal was struck heads-up which saw


Germany’s Fricke take home 81,590 and Lombardo get 63,000 for his victory. The fi nal hand of the tournament saw Lombardo


bet 130,000 and Fricke call. The fl op fell 7d-6d-5h and the players got all in with Lombardo showing Jd-9d and Fricke showing 8s-6h. The turn fell 3c and the river the 2d to give the Italian a fl ush and victory.

Fricke callte. Der Flop kam mit 7d-6d-5h, und die Spieler waren all-in. Lombardo zeigte Jd-9d, Fricke 8s-6h. Auf dem Turn fi el die 3c, aber auf dem River traf der Italiener mit 2d seinen Flush und machte damit den Sack zu.

£222K BAD BEAT J♠CKPOT


After ten months of waiting the Casino at the Empire’s bad beat jackpot, which had accumulated to a total of £222,000, fi nally arrived at the start of December. Rupert Graham had started the hand with a pair of sixes and


Halit Avoyli held a pair of kings. There was a pre-fl op raise from Rupert of £8 and a re-raise to £19 from Halit, Rupert and one other player then saw a fl op of 6-K-3. It was checked to Rupert who bet £50, Hailt raised to £223, the


other player went all in for £200, and after a few minutes deliberation (and the clock being called), Rupert made the call. It then came a six on the turn and King on the river. The bad beat hand holder, Rupert Graham, picked up 50 per


cent of the jackpot - £111k. Halit Avoyli won the table pot of £650 and £55k (25 per cent) and the other six people on the wining table received around £7.5k each. The other eight players in the cardroom at the time also received £1,400.





UKR♠INIAN WINS MEDITERRANEAN POKER CUP

Ukrainian poker player Aleksandr Dovzhenko won the $2,500 NLH Mediterranean Poker Cup which


took place at the fi ve-star Hotel Merit Girne, Crystal Cove, Cyprus in November. Dovzhenko beat Gutkin Maksim of Russia heads up in the $400,000 guaranteed event to collect the 104,700 fi rst prize. The event attracted 153 players from around the Mediterranean, Europe, Russia, Ukraine, and the Middle East.


The Ukrainian said after his victory: “This is the best tournament I’ve ever played. I’m glad


I won for sure but the organization all week has been fantastic and the hotel and surroundings are world class. It’s a beautiful place and I’m already looking forward to the next Poker Club Management event.” Artur Voskanjan, of Poker Club Management, said: “It’s been a fantastic week of poker here in Cyprus. We couldn’t have asked for more - the weather was perfect, the hotel was great value offering a world class spa, wonderful food and lots of fun entertainment and congratulations to Aleksandr, he’s a very worthy winner.”

Mediterranean Poker Cup statt. Es siegte Aleksandr Dovzhenko aus der Ukraine. Dovzhenko setzte sich im Heads-up


gegen den Russen Gutkin Maksim durch und strich die Siegprämie in Höhe von $104.700 ein. Bei dem Event waren 153 Spieler aus verschiedenen europäischen und sonstigen Mittelmeerländern, Russland, der Ukraine und dem Nahen Osten ins Rennen um den Preispool gegangen, bei dem $400.000 garantiert waren. Der Ukrainer erklärte nach seinem Sieg:
