HealthCity International Acquires BasicFit HealthCity International B.V. has announced that it’s acquired BasicFit’s 32 fitness centers—31 in the Netherlands and one in Belgium. The transaction will allow HealthCity, a pioneering fitness provider based in Hoofddorp, in the Netherlands, to secure its leading position in the region’s fitness marketplace. World Gym Acquires California Fitness in Taiwan


World Gym, one of the world’s largest gym chains, has acquired California Fitness in Taiwan from 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, Inc. The addition of these six sites will bring World Gym Taiwan’s total number of fitness outlets to 18, increasing its membership base from 60,000 to 90,000, more than 10% of the market share. “The deal enables us to extend World Gym’s footprint across


Taiwan,” John Caraccio, the general manager of World Gym Taiwan, explained during a media briefing. “World Gym will enjoy the economy of scale in terms of both locations and memberships, allowing us to operate more effectively in Taiwan.” He added that all existing employment and membership contracts at California Fitness would be honored. —|

Just weeks after opening its Rosemead location in California, New Evolution Ventures (NeV) and the UFC announced plans to open the third UFC Gym location in Corona, California. Because of the Corona facili-
