Strong suits In terms of innovation, Power Plate touts its PrecisionWave Technology, based on a high-fidelity harmonic vibra- tion system that provides vibration waves in synchronicity; it’s designed to ensure maximum muscle response for optimal results, asserts de Gorter. “What the PrecisionWave Technology
comes down to is this: the Power Plate moves in a multidirectional move- ment—up and down, left and right, front to back,” he explains. “This movement is consistent across the entire platform, meaning that, no matter how your body interacts with it, the vibration is always the same. It also engages more muscle stimulation: the up-and-down move- ment builds muscle mass, while the horizontal movement engages the core and balance.” In addition to the equipment’s
distinctive movement, de Gorter takes particular pride in Power Plate’s medi- cal backing. It’s a medically certified device in Europe, and the company is the only vibration-training manufac- turer worldwide to have all of its prod- ucts certified as medical devices through the Medical Device Directive, a classifi- cation designed to ensure that medical equipment is safe and reliable within the European Economic Area. Power Plate International also holds ISO 13485 certification for its Quality Management System as well as Medical Device Manu- facturer Certification. Unique technology and medical
support will take a company only so far. Power Plate understands that, as a relatively new company, educating users is a critical component to facili- tating its growth. To that end, PPNA conducts training academies monthly throughout the U.S. and Canada, which include two progressive levels of training regimens, movement libraries, and handbooks on the science and technology behind whole-body vibra-

tion, and how it affects the anatomy. Power Plate also disseminates its materials via online portals, such as Personal Training on the Net (www.
ptonthenet.com), as well as through training and education workshops, seminars, and conferences it holds and ones conducted by such partners as Athletes’ Performance, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and PTAGlobal. “For our training and education,
we’ve forged exclusive partnerships with these leading organizations in the industry, along with the Beijing Sports University in China and the Greenwich University in England,” says de Gorter. “Our academies are certified as well, delivering CECs through NASM, NSCA, ACE, and Can-Fit-Pro.” Regarding Power Plate’s future pros-
pects, “Club owners and operators as a whole are just realizing the potential behind this technology,” de Gorter notes. “We are dedicated to making them realize this potential.” —|
