A pound for every Morris dancer sealed Yorkshire deal

A collaboration between graphic artist company, Playpen, and Digital Plus, a large format printing company has resulted in a Yorkshire deal on a major London art exhibition. Leeds-based digital plus was contacted by the Whitby artist,

David Owen, to help publicise his exhibition, entitled ‘5000 Morris dancers‘ at London’s Southbank centre, on a budget of £1 per dancer. Digital plus had worked with the artist

before, collaborating on a number of specialist displays for Exhibitions, so readily agreed to be part of the concept inspired by Lord Coe’s joke about recruiting 5,000 Morris dancers for the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Chris Stringwell, Director of Digital Plus

said: “We struck our Yorkshire deal with David as we knew it would be a very exciting project to work on. To get all the printed publicity to all the different venues in time was a tough challenge, but we are very proud of what we have done for our fellow Yorkshire company.” Digital Plus was required to produce and print

36 giant window graphics, 15 suspended cored graphics, 10 large removable prints, wallpapers to wrap around the trees on the Thames’ frontage and 12 massive wrappings for columns. All were printed on its giant flat bed printer

and delivered into London for the exhibition, which ran across venues of the Southbank centre in London earlier this month, supported

Feather flags make a splash for 2011 Junior World Rowing event

Hampshire Flag Company is playing a key part in the promotion of next year’s FISA World Rowing Junior Championships thanks to the production of two feather flags. The leading flag manufacturer donated the 2.4m single-sided

feather flags, along with spike and x-bases, to British Rowing, the sport’s governing body, for a series of events this summer held to

encourage volunteers and spectators to attend the Championships at Eton Dorney in August 2011. The feather flags were taken to the Henley Women’s Regatta,

the National Schools Regatta and the British Rowing Championships in Strathclyde to raise awareness of the date and to encourage spectators not to book holidays during 4-7 August next year. Di Ellis, CBE, Chairman of British Rowing said, “Raising

awareness this summer is essential to ensure a successful, well- attended and strongly supported event next year. “The World Rowing Junior Championships is an exciting and

once in a lifetime opportunity for many of this country’s young athletes. We are delighted with the impact the feather flags have had and we are extremely grateful for Hampshire Flag’s generosity,” added Di. Hampshire Flag’s team of 21 produces hand-sewn national and international flags and digitally printed banners. Graham Wilkinson, Managing Director of the Waterlooville firm

said, “Feather flags are a striking, eye-catching and contemporary way of communicating and we are extremely pleased with the Junior Championship feather flags. “This is set to be fantastic event and one which will encourage

many young people, both the participants and the spectators. It was a privilege to donate the two feather flags and we wish the organisers and the rowers all the very best for next year’s Championships,” added Graham. For further information telephone Hampshire Flag Company on
