Features to tempt

AXYZ International has sold, built and installed more than 9000 router systems in its history and offers a range of large format CNC routers to fit different budgets. Liam believes AXYZ’s build quality and features such as a dedicated control system and automatic software updates, combined with the company’s back up and service, are significant in this success. With AXYZ’s Intelligent Cutting System (ICS) and tangential

oscillating knife, sign makers can adapt any standard AXYZ router to maximise the potential of the lucrative cut-to-print market by processing both traditional sign making materials like aluminium, aluminium composite material (ACM), PVC, acrylic, plywood and medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and flexible or semi-rigid media such as foamed board, corrugated plastic, cardboard, rubber and leather up to a thickness of 40mm without the need to invest in dedicated cutting machinery. The company’s most widely bought routers in the sign and

graphic industry are the AXYZ Series. Designed for ultimate versatility, they offer a comprehensive range of machine sizes and tool configurations.

This close-up shows the print-and-cut capabilities now possible with AXYZ routers.

Popular sizes for sign makers are the 4000, 5000 and 6000

models. The 4000 offers a cutting width of 1524mm, the 5000 has a 1842mm cutting width, and the 6000 a 2100mm processing width. Each machine is available with AXYZ’s Aluminium Vacuum Bed for material hold down. Key optional design features include a versatile Automatic Tool Change (ATC) facility and the latest Intelligent Cutting System (ICS) cut-to-print facility. The ICS function, in particular, adds a powerful new dimension to AXYZ routers by enabling optimum levels of accuracy when processing both digitally-printed media and thicker sign-making materials. Other common options for sign makers include the Unist mister (for cutting aluminium and other non-ferrous metals), pop up location pins for quick material alignment, collet or quick release spindles in 5 or 10 HP sizes. The options available from leading manufacturers enable sign makers to have a machine tailored to their requirements. Tekcel provides a range of options and choice of industry

deliver the highest levels of precision, productivity and reliability. They harbour a wealth of class leading features, including powerful routing heads, digitally-controlled, servo motors and ball leadscrew drive systems on every axis, ‘cut-to-film’ vacuum bed systems and automatic tool length sensing as standard. There are also a wide range of options on offer, including Automatic Tool Changing, Cut to Print camera and pin registration systems. Unlike some other machines on the market, Tekcel routers have

always included precision ballscrew drives and powerful servo motors on every axis. In fact the x axis benefits from two ballscrew drives to power the gantry up and down the router bed. According to Tekcel, the benefits of employing this technology are pinpoint cutting accuracy and exceptional controllability. For the operator, this translates into higher productivity, longer life cycles and lower set up times. Crucial to the accuracy of any CNC router, and the safety of

operators, is holding down the material effectively throughout the cutting process. Tekcel routers feature a unique ‘hole and pocket’ vacuum bed that provides thousands of ’suction cups’ which the company claims produce the most effective hold down router bed on the market. The vacuum applied to each individual slat that makes up the bed can be turned on and off to channel hold down where it’s needed most. The Tekcel bed format can be machined flat by the router itself and so provides the perfect platform for accurate routing depth control. Continued on page 26......
